Pattern Exhibition - Prints

These are some quick screen prints just for the exhibition pack. They are printed on cartridge paper, just simple prints that will be folded instead of cut down, these will be around A3 size. Just black is a little boring so I am thinking of printing some colour overlays just to continue a small bit of pattern. I do want it to be different though, I don't want everything the same.

Pattern Exhibtion - Print cards

These are the first of the post card prints for the exhibtion packs. I screen printed black onto gray mount board. I feel this work really well because it was different to the usual pattern stuff. This is a lot more simple and thats the way it should be for a little contrast.

This is just the same thing but printed onto gray pulp board. I think that screen prints should be on something more solid and clean, it also doesn't really go with the rest of everything.

Pattern Exhibtion - Type

This is the print out at 70% opacity instead of 100%. It works a lot better and the black of the large type stands out so much more than before. The only problem is that I have changed all the body copy to white as it works better on the other posters. I cannot do that on this poster as there are white diamonds in between the shapes. I will have to leave this type in black but still think it should work.

Pattern Exhibtion - Print Outs

These are the initial print outs for the promo fly posters. On screen they looked fine but I think that once they have printed out the colour over shadows the type. This can be easily fixed just by changing the opacity of the patterns. I also think that all the small type at the bottom should be in white so that it is all around more legible. I will test my theories.

Pattern Exhibition - Initial Prints

These are the first prints I did for the pattern exhibition. The crit was all the same feedback, people liked the type but the patterns were to weak. I agree with what people said, they looked to much like just shapes. Not enough like patterns. The type at the bottom was also a little too small, this was also what everyone said. I do like the posters but agree about the patterns. Most people also said that a larger patterns would work better, this is what I have taken from the crit.

Pattern Exhibition Flyers

I have opted to go for the patterns on the front of the flyers, just the patterns by themselves. I think it works as they are eye catching and colourful, this will hopefully make people go for them and turn them over for the information provided on the back.

This is the back, simple layout and black and white, it is crutial that people see the information, so black on white is clear. It is also a nice contrast to the colour throughout the project  and on the front of the flyers.

Pattern Exhibition Promo Flyer Ideas

These are the ideas for the fronts of the flyers that will be given out to invite people to come to the exhibition, part of the promo pack. The fronts speak for themselves, they have the patterns and the type.

The backs correspond with the colours on the front. I like the layout, the simplicity counter acts the complex pattern on the front. I don't really like them to be honest. I don't think it works with the rest of the project as a whole.

Pattern Exhibition Catalogue Ideas

Just an idea for the front of the catalogue. It is just the basics of the posters but it only has the title, patterns and names of the exhibitors. This will be given out in the pack to the first 100 people at the show, along with the screen prints. It is supposed to act as a poster and a catalogue so you decide how you want it.

Another idea for the front. The back is landscape and so I thought that it would be nice to do a landscape front. I never usually work on landscape pieces, but I think that it works really well, I would be able to communicate the idea of pattern still and it would still be good for people to put on their wall either side.

I started to use a little bit more of a different layout which i think works better than the formated layout. I wanted it to work a little more like another poster on the back of the poster in the pack rather than a catalogue. This I think works. I think maybe there is a little too much colour and the extended lines get lost.

These are the layout I really like, the colours correspond with the colours of the patterns on the front. They seem to work a lot better than the formatted ones. I am really happy with them and think that they would also work as posters.

Patter Exhibition Catalogue Ideas

Here was the first format I was working on, the grid is to represent to folds. I hate it and think it is so far removed and boring compared to the rest of the brief.

I started to play around with it being portrait instead of landscape. This work a lot better but I wasn't sure weather I liked the overlay on the type, a little boring again and seems a little pointless.

I started to settle for the simpler kind of layout with a little pattern touch around the edge of the photo's. The layout works but I don't know weather it works with the way the rest of the brief works. I also don't know about the pattern, I think it is a little pointless.

This is all of the laid out with the line being incorporated into it. I am still not too happy with the layouts, I am feeling a little bored with it, once again it doesn't fit in with the rest of the brief.
