Fine Art Yearbook - Books are here!

The books and flyers are finally here. We are really pleased with the results. The flier is just the inside cover, black on the front and blue on the back. The only problem is the blade was blunt on the flyer cutting so they are going to do some more. It's all part of a learning curve but it's worth it.

Fine Art Yearbook - Spreads

We have decided to mix it up a little with the spreads in the book. Some full bleed, some positioned differently and some just single on a page. They really like it and we have stuck to a real simple grid system that organizes the pages well.

Fine Art Yearbook - Changes

So after the meeting we had with the fine artists, they really liked Angus's initial layout, so we went with that and some obvious changes. We did some colour variations but it turned out they really like the black on the outside and the blue on the inside. Which is fine with us as we really like that too.

Year Book Boards

We got rejected for the Graphic design year book. The decision was fair enough as I think that we had too strong a concept for the cover and it didn't run throughout the book. It was kind of like we just threw the rest of the layouts and pages together after we had done something thoughtful and cool for the cover. I liked the idea of the tea towel and still think that me tom and angus will take on doing 50 of them.

Fine Art Yearbook

This is an initial idea for the Fine Art yearbook. Me, Angus and Tom all had different ideas of layout with the same concept. I am really happy with the outcome of it. It is mad simple and just two colour, but they don't have a lot of money or ideas so I think this is bang on. My layouts for the spreads aren't to good so we will make a mother child of all three of our designs and hope they Fine Art kids like them.

Year Book Cover

Just a quick mock-up of how it a cover could work with the branding on it. It does work pretty well for sure.

Printers

Got in touch with Evolution Press today in, they're based in Sheffield. The site is nicely set out and they look as though they do a lot of stuff with designer type people, but they look as though they may be a little expensive.

This is where Kyle and Merlin got the prospectus printed. I got in touch with Kyle and he sorted me out with a number and e-mail address of the guy that he spoke to. Big help.

This is a tea towel company that screen print towels for schools, I am getting a quote from them for an idea.

Jade Press of Leeds came through straight away with a good quote, its not the best printers with the best reputation but from what I have seen the quality is still outstanding.

Year Book Layout

A quick, simple design for the look of the yearbook. Keeping with the thin lines of the type and the thin lines of the design. This is simple and easy to communicate and read. People will know exactly what the designer is about straight away.

Year Book Handout

A design for a special handout with the year book, just a quick simple layout. The bottom is too harsh on the eyes and wouldn't work as well as something simple and thin line work. Keeping with the books aesthetic.

Year Book Branding

Two ideas using type on the side instead of just a normal top to bottom format. I like this idea as it gives a good structure and is near enough the same format as the book will be.

These ideas are just simple, kind of boring layout. Its a good format, nice and square, but its lacking quality and a nice aesthetic. 

These are back to the start but with a bolder line. The thinner line would work better as the look of the book is going to be a little more subtle.
