Layout Ideas

Another way to layout the page is to use really small type instead of massive type. This way it is still showing off the paper as well as getting the message across. I don't know weather the big type is to bold or not.

Layout Ideas

This is the same idea as the tester. I am going ahead with the cut through idea. I thought maybe tracing paper would work but it wouldn't give the same effect. It looks shit on screen but when its all cut out with the image behind it looks pretty effective. (Grey is just screen-shot stuff).

This is the layout for the title pages. Big and bold so the paper stands out.

The opposing pages will have a brief history on. The type once again is simple and minimal as not to distract too much from the type of stock that the whole thing is actually about.

Fedrigoni Initial Ideas - Layout Thumbnails

I don't like the extravagance of this one, I know it doesnt look to fancy on this thumbnail but the large scale type wont work when showing off the papaer I shouldnt think.

I like the simplicity idea of the facing pages ones on this, the un-used area and white space will show off the paper to the reader.

This one could work quite well. It is a little more interesting with the type on the facing page. The title could be a little more eye catching if the type is played about with in this way.

Once again I like the simple idea. I could maybe incorporate the small text with a little more interesting type layout for the header and titles of the pages.

Fedrigoni Initial Ideas - Mock up

This is a mock up of the front cover and inner cover for the paper catalog. Obviously people know that paper comes from tress but a lot of companies try and hide the fact that they are tearing down forests. The section in the book about their environmental impact shows people that they are a good eco-friendly company. So i think a nice picture of a forest will cause impact and also looks aesthetically pleasing.

The cut out type idea I think has worked and made the whole thing a little more interesting. The only problem is I will have to cut them out by hand because the die cutter downstairs rips paper up when it is put through it.

The green is very vibrant, so I thought that maybe green type would run through nicely in the catalog.

Fedrigoni Initial Ideas - Pagination

I was trying to work out how many pieces of paper I will need to print on for my Fedrigoni catalog. It only needs to be small so it doesn't over power the fact that it is advertising the showroom and paper to designers. Instead of just trying to work it out in my head I made a small booklet.

The booklet only needs to be about five pages long.

Fedrigoni Initial Ideas - 1

The initial idea was to just keep it really simple and let the paper speak for itself, but i later went on to think that there needs to be some sort of reasoning behind this and maybe keeping it to simple would be boring.

I started playing around with the idea of using forests or trees to let people know where their paper has some from.

The brief is to show that Fedrigioni paper is good paper for designers to use. I thought i'd make it a little more 'designery' with a different concept. I will have the type cut out with an image behind, still playing on the simplicity but making it a little more complex.

This was an idea using pencils with the same cut out effect. After realizing that maybe pencils are a smaller part of some designers practice i scrapped the idea.

Ripped paper idea.

Once again playing in the notion that this paper is specifically for designers and they should use it.

I am going to use Fedirgoni paper to make a large booklet showing off the companies paper and explaining a little about the company. I will also have a section in it advertising to come down to the showroom.

Fedrigoni

I have recently e-mailed Fedrigoni regarding paper samples. They have said they will send some paper through for me to try out and have a look at. If they don't send a lot I will order some for my project to print on, because I am 100% sure that I will print on their paper for their brief. It wouldn't make sense to me not too.

FMP Brief Ideas

Exhibition of Science Fiction - Leeds College of Art Mosaic Cafe and Bar:

I want to put on a fictional exhibition at the college. This is so I can design, promote and create works for an exhibition. I will think of the concept for the designers / artists to create their entries for, design and print the promo material, stationary, brochure  / booklet / zine about the show.

Mystery Apparel:

The idea of the apparel is that the person buying the product you have no idea which design you will be receiving.  There will be three designs for the t-shirts and one design for the zine accomnying them. The zine will be about the design of the t-shirt and it will explain every design within it.

As far as ideas for this projecct goes I have thought of a few. Mystery could be anything from crimes, people, personalitys to cartoons. I have thought about going down the route of the universe. There is a great deal of mystery about the universe i.e. the size of it, black holes etc so I think a graphicaly interpretation of these mysterys will make for a good shirt. The informational but aestheticaly pleasing zines will be about all the three different mysterys of the universe.

The packaging will be in keeping with the mystery theme and will be completely impossible to scan / x-ray / see - through.

The Master of Suspense - Poster Series

The title of the poster series speaks for itself. The posters will re-create some of Hitchcock's most famous and iconic films. They will be collected and packaged effectively. The idea for these posters is they aren't just a standard A format, they will be whatever format they fit in well in their environment. These will be executed through type and image and will hopefully come with a small fan - zine about each film.

Fedrigoni:

This is to promote the paper factory Fedrigoni. It is to encourage more people to visit the factory and buy the fantatic quality paper. I am going to print directly onto Fedrigoni paper. I am yet to figure out what I will be creating to persuade people to go.
